It is with deep regret and great sadness that the Sloatsburg Fire Department announces the passing of Ex-Chief and 60-Year Life Member Frank Palazzone.
Being 77 years old and a 60 year member of the department meant nothing as far as Frank slowing down. He was a truck driver by profession and was still an active chauffeur and our main driver trainer. His attendance at any fundraiser, drill, dinner or incident rivaled that of a gung-ho 18 year old member. It didn't matter the time of day or conditions, Frank was there. In fact he would routinely express his disappointment when he would miss a call as minor as a pump out because he was out of the area. In an even more amazing feat, Frank at 75 years old decided he simply was not doing enough and got a job driving a school bus for the Tuxedo School District; a position he held until his death.
Frank was one of a kind and his experience, knowledge, friendship and most importantly, dedication will be sorely missed.

Special Thanks to Brian Duddy for this great picture of Frank driving 15-500 at the 97th Annual RCVFA Parade in Tallman, New York on September 12, 2009.
